Real Time Carbon Counter

widgetKevin Parker, Global Head of Deutsche Asset Management, originated the idea of a real-time carbon counter as a way of providing people with a simple explanation of a complex problem. To create the Number, which displays the increase in GHGs every 10th of a second, we collaborated with scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Joint Program on the Science and Policy of Climate Change.

Watch this real-time carbon counter as it rolls off its calculations in Metric Tons. You can even download the widget for immediate access. The questions is, how can we get our heads around numbers this big? It’s great that the idea of rising carbon is coming into the collective consciousness, but we’re going to have to come up with concrete, individualized goals in order to inspire people to change their day to day behavior.
