Presidential Inauguration? There’s an app for that.
L Studio is proud to be working on an App for one of America’s most iconic national parks. This project has put us on the lookout for other apps about national treasures and events. Monday’s Marketplace discussion about the history of new technologies at presidential inaugurations was really fascinating. It turns out these events have a history of being behind the times: American presidents arrive at the inauguration in horse-drawn buggies long after the advent of the automobile, etc.
So what is our relationship to technology when it is applied to happenings that are all about tradition? How will devices mediate our experience of one-of-a-kind places in the future? Our relationship with the many screens in our lives are becoming more and more important to our experience of the physical world. At some point in the not so distant future, we may find ourselves asking: “How do I understand the world around me WITHOUT an app?”
